Service Issues and Requirements
Southwestern Bell Internet Services incorporates the latest technology and software. We are continuously improving our service with daily additions and changes. In order to have the best experience on the Internet, we recommend the following minimum requirements for your computer:
Windows System Requirements
- 386 or higher
- 14.4Kbps modem or faster with hardware data compression and error correction
- Windows 3.1, 3.11 (Windows for Workgroups), Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0
- Minimum 8 MB RAM recommended (16 MB RAM recommended for Windows 95/98/NT)
- 15 MB free hard disk space for Pacific Bell Internet software, and an additional 5 MB recommended for disk caching when downloading software
Macintosh System Requirements
- Macintosh (or compatible) 68030 or higher, or PowerPC
- 14.4Kbps modem or faster with hardware data compression and error correction
- 8MB RAM
- 15MB free hard-disk space
- MacOS System 7.1 or higher
- Open Transport users must use Open Transport 1.1 or higher
ISDN
- Dial-up ISDN service requires an ISDN line from your telecommunications provider and a terminal adapter (ISDN modem). Please be sure to have the appropriate equipment and service prior to subscribing. These prices include Internet access only. They do not include telephone-related charges for ISDN installation, equipment or monthly phone charges.
SurfWatch
- If you choose to add SurfWatch Internet filtering software (which monitors content on the Web to block out unwanted material) we recommend 15 MB of free hard drive space on your computer.
