The following information is provided as a resource to help prevent problems in using our software with Windows 98.Southwestern Bell Internet is now providing software that is compatible with Windows 98. This is a very specific package, and needs to be used exclusively with Windows 98.

- What problems might exist when using Southwestern Bell Internet software with Windows 98?
- The current packages of software that we are supplying for Windows 98 are designed specifically for Windows 98. Please do not use any other versions for your Windows 98 system. If you have another operating system, please use the software that we provide for that particular operating system.
- What if I have already used an older version of software, and I am having problems connecting?
- Older versions of our software are not Windows 98 compatible. If you have already installed an older version of our software on your Windows 98 machine and are having difficulties, please refer to our Help pages. This section will provide a brief explanation of how to correct problems which may arise as a result of using PBI software that is not Windows 98 compatible on a Windows 98 machine.
- How can I set up a new account using Windows 98?
- If you would like to set up a new account please download the Windows 98 complete software kit or fill out our on-line software order form for Windows 98 compatible software on CD. If you would like to use your own Internet software, you may use our Online Registration tool. Once you are registered, you may use our manual connection document to manually create a dialer.
- How will my existing Windows 95 connection change after the Windows 98 upgrade?
- Any Southwestern Bell Internet software previously installed under Windows 95 should still function normally after an upgrade to Windows 98.
- How can I restore my existing account information after installing Windows 98?
- You can download our Windows 98 compatible software by going to our software download site, or fill out our on-line software order form for Windows 98 compatible software on CD. After you have installed our Windows 98 compatible software your may register as an existing user and continue to use your software as you normally would. The current packages of software that we are supplying for Windows 98 are designed specifically for Windows 98. Please do not use any other versions for your Windows 98 system. If you would like instructions on configuring your own connection and browser, please refer to our manual connection document.

- We do not currently support this technology.
- Does Southwestern Bell Internet support Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)?
- These upgrades to Dial Up Networking will not enhance your account and may, in fact, cause problems with your connection.
- Can I use my account with other software that comes with Windows 98?
- Your Southwestern Bell Internet account can be used with other Windows 98 programs, such as Internet Explorer, active channels, Front Page Express and Outlook Express. However, because we do not use or distribute this software, we cannot provide support for its use with your Southwestern Bell Internet account.
