The following will help you configure Windows XP using its BUILT IN DSL DRIVER SOFTWARE (PPPoE) to connect to SBC Internet Services. Please note that our current version and previous versions of (PPPoE) EnterNet 300 ARE NOT COMPATIBLE with Windows XP, and are not necessary. If trying to use EnterNet 300 on Windows XP, you will receive various error messages such as:


If you have already installed Windows XP, we suggest that you uninstall EnterNet 300 from your system, or simply delete the EnterNet 300 shortcut icons that are on your desktop.
To uninstall EnterNet 300, go to: START > MORE PROGRAMS > EFFICIENT NETWORKS > ENTERNET 300 > UNINSTALL ENTERNET 300.
Follow the prompts to uninstall EnterNet 300.
Before upgrading to Windows XP, check the "Modem Compatibility Matrix" below to determine if you modem is currently compatible with Windows XP.

If you have a modem which is not Windows XP compatible, we strongly advise that you do not upgrade your system to Windows XP. By installing Windows XP with an incompatible modem, you will not be able to get online. The various modem manufacturers are currently working on Windows XP compatible modem drivers and will be available soon.
If your modem is compatible with Windows XP, follow the procedure below to configure and use Windows XP's built in PPPoE client.
1. Go to Start > Control Panel 2. Double click on "Network Connections". 3. Click on "Create a new connection". 4. The "Network Connection Wizard" will now come up. Click on the
"Next" button. 5. Select "Connect to the Internet", then click "Next". 6. Select "Set up my connection manually", then click on "Next". 7. Select "Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user
name and password". Select "Next". 8.Enter the name of your ISP in the field. Click "Next". 9. Enter your User Name and password as shown below. 10. The Setup process is finished. Place a check under "Add a shortcut
to this connection to my desktop". Click "Finish" 11. The connection box will appear. Click "Connect" to access
the Internet. 12. Launch your web browser or e-mail application to access the Internet. | Home

Please note that Windows XP may prompt you with a "Location Information" box.
If so please enter your area code in the field labeled "What area code (or city code)
are you in now?" and then click the "OK" button.
