The following instructions will help Windows users update their dialer application to include their Member ID and Network Name (swbell.net) and access SBC Internet service:

Verify that DUN Installed on Windows
Before you set up a Dial-Up Networking (DUN) connection, you should check whether one exists on the computer already.
- Click the Start button at the left side of your Windows taskbar.
- Click Settings.
- Click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs; the Add/Remove Programs Property window will open.
- Click the Windows Setup tab.
- Click on the word Communications (not the check box before it) to highlight that line.
- Click the Details... button further down that window; the Communications window will open.
- If there is a check before Dial-Up Networking, then it is installed. If not, then you will need to create a Dial-Up Networking connection before connecting with SBC Dial.
Modifying Dial-Up Networking (DUN) Connections - Win95/98
To modify/verify a Dial-Up Networking (DUN) connection on a computer using the Windows 95/98 operating system:
- Double click the My Computer icon on computer's desktop.
- Double click Dial-up Networking.
- Double-click on the SBC Dial connection icon on the computer's Dial-Up Networking screen; the Connect To window will open.
- Type your SBC Dial email address (e.g. MemberID@swbell.net) and your password in the fields provided. (Remember that your password is case sensitive.)
- Click the Connect button.
Modifying Dial-Up Networking (DUN) Connections - WinNT
To modify/verify a Dial-Up Networking (DUN) connection on a computer using the Windows ME operating system:
- Double click the My Computer icon on computer's desktop.
- Double click Dial-Up Networking.
- Select the Internet Service connection from the Phonebook entry to dial field.
- Select the Dial button.
- Enter the following data in the fields displayed:
User name: Member ID ( MemberID@swbell.net ) Password: Internet password; remember, it's case sensitive. Domain: Leave blank Note: To save the password (only on that computer), place a check in the Save Password box. Modifying Dial-Up Networking (DUN) Connections - Windows 2000
To modify/verify a Dial-Up Networking (DUN) connection on a computer using the Windows ME operating system:
- Double click the My Computer icon on computer's desktop.
- Double click Dial-Up Networking.
- Select and right-click the icon for the Internet Service connection and select Connect.
- Enter the following data in the fields displayed:
User name: Member ID ( MemberID@swbell.net ) Password: Internet password; remember, it's case sensitive. Note: To save the password (only on that computer), place a check in the Save Password box. - Click the Dial button.
Modifying Dial-Up Networking (DUN) Connections - WinME
To modify/verify a Dial-Up Networking (DUN) connection on a computer using the Windows ME operating system:
- Double click the My Computer icon on computer's desktop.
- Double click Control Panel.
- Double click Dial-Up Networking.
- Right-click on the SBC Dial connection icon on the computer's Dial-Up Networking screen; a short menu will pop-up. Select Properties.
- Select the Security tab.
- Type your email address (e.g. username@swbell.net ) and your password in the fields provided. (Remember that your password is case sensitive.)
- Click the Connect button.
Modifying Dial-Up Networking (DUN) Connections - WinXP
To modify/verify a Dial-Up Networking (DUN) connection on a computer using the Windows XP operating system:
- Click the Start button on the Desktop.
- From the menu select Control Panel.
- Select Internet Options.
- On the Internet Properties window click on the Connections tab.
- In the Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings window select the Dial connection icon and click the Settings… button.
- In the Dial-up settings options at the bottom of the Dial Settings enter the following data in the fields displayed:
User name: Member ID ( MemberID@swbell.net ) Password: Internet password; remember, it's case sensitive. Domain: Leave blank - Click on the OK button to enter the modified settings.
- On the Internet Properties screen click on the Apply button to complete the entry.
- Click on the OK button.
- Close the Network and Internet Connections window.
