The following instructions will help Macinstosh users update their DSL settings to include their Member ID and Network Name (swbell.net) and access SBC Internet service: Modem | 2-Wire Device Macintosh OSX - PPPoE Update - Modem Macintosh OSX has a native PPPoE client that is used to authenticate on the SBC Internet DSL Services using DSL modems. Go into the Apple Menu and select System Preferences. From the System Preferences window select the Network icon from the Internet and Network group. From the Location field window select the connection that is used to access the DSL Internet service. Select PPPoE from the bar below the Show field in the Network options screen. Select and Enter: Enter their Fully Qualified Member Name (memberID@swbell.net) in the Account Name field. Enter their password in the Password field. Enter their password in the Password (Verify) field. Select the Apply Now button. Verify the following: The checkbox before "Connect using PPPoE" is checked. If a convenient connection is required ensure the checkbox before “Save password” is selected. Select the lock icon (bottom left corner of the Network Options screen) to secure the modified options.   Back to top   Macintosh OSX - PPPoE Update - 2 Wire Device Macintosh OSX has a native PPPoE client that is used to authenticate on the SBC Internet DSL Services using 2 Wire devices. Authentication is not required from the Macintosh and is handled by the 2 Wire device.
