Some Members have received email that appears to come from an SBC Internet Services accounting department claiming that their service will be terminated. The email comes with an attachment and contains the following content:
Subject line: Billing Notice From [Southwestern Bell Internet or SBC Internet Services*] Account Dpt Internet Billing Notice
Please press "open" and read the attached Billing Notice.
Note if you do not read this within 24 hours we at [Southwestern Bell Internet or SBC Internet Services*] regret we will have to terminate internet service.
[* Specific service provider name used may vary.]
You should delete this email immediately and not open the attachment. This email did not come from SBC or any of its affiliates. It is the result of a virus that is spreading throughout the Internet community. SBC Internet Services took immediate action to block any further messages from reaching our Members, and we will continue working diligently to ensure that your experience with us is both safe and enjoyable.
To protect yourself, you should scan your computer for viruses on a weekly basis and maintain continuous, up-to-date antivirus protection. Here are some helpful sites:
